BELFAST — Maurice Eugene Pooler passed away at home unexpectedly on May 3, 2018 at the age of 71. He was the son of Harry and Sybil (Nickerson) Pooler. Maurice grew up in Belfast. In his teens he worked for the City of Belfast as a dispatcher. He also worked for MSAD #34 as a bus driver at two different times in his life. In his younger years and then again years later he worked as a Deputy Sheriff for Waldo County Sheriff Department. He was owner of a construction company and was very proud of the work that was accomplished such as the tennis courts in Searsport.

When his father, Harry, retired in 1985, he continued with the family business for 30 years as owner of Pooler's Towing and Truck Repair. He was a founding member of the Towing and Recovery Association of Maine (TRAM). Maurice will be lovingly remembered by many for the countless hours he volunteered for the City of Belfast on the Planning Board and as a fire fighter and ambulance service for well over 30 years. He will also be remembered for his passion and knowledge of the towing industry. Maurice enjoyed his family, all of his German Shepards and, of course, his Friday night pizza and Uncle Henry's at Belfast Variety. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Maurice is survived by his wife of 26 years, Cathy Pooler of Belfast; his brother Harrison Pooler and wife Lisa of Swanville; sister Nancy Pooler of Belfast; brother Keith Pooler and wife Connie of Waldo and sister Mary Sargent and husband Glen of Lincolnville. He is also survived by his four children, Jeremy Moulton and Angela Austin both of Belfast, Michelle Larochelle and husband Brian of Brewer, Mark Pooler and wife Allison of Monroe. He also leaves behind 8 special grandchildren, Karen and Jeremy Moulton, Brielle Austin, Katherine and Jacob Larochelle, Madeline, Logan and Sean Pooler and many nieces and nephews.
