ROCKPORT — Midcoast Music Academy (MCMA) welcomes Mark Power to its faculty of teaching artists.

Power recently settled in Maine after a lifetime of vocal training and performance across the country. As an operatic tenor, Power’s performance career was centered in Los Angeles, Seattle and New York. In addition to opera, he both performs and coaches professionals in pop, musical theater, rock and R&B.

In his professional career, Power also applies his training to theater direction, television, public speaking, vocal therapy, and radio.

“With a teaching philosophy that focuses on understanding and meeting each student’s unique needs, Mark is a perfect match for MCMA,” said MCMA, in a news release.

This pedagogical approach stems from his experience teaching martial arts and special education. That work taught him the importance of a highly individualized, consistent and structured environment, according to MCMA. He understands that all students come to him with specific challenges and needs that must be addressed together. The willingness to focus and work guarantees progress and the joy that comes with it.
