March 18 update from Maine CDC: cases of COVID-19 climb to 30 confirmed, 12 presumptive positive

    AUGUSTA — The Maine CDC has updated its list of presumptive positive and confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state of Maine. Today, there are a combined 42 cases of confirmed and presumptive positive and 1,670 have returned as negative.

    One person, thus far, has recovered in Maine. 

    The charts below outline where in the state the tests have originated. Tests indicate the virus is more widespread throughout the state in different counties.

     

    Definitions

    Confirmed Cases: This now includes cases formerly identified as presumptive positive. This classification applies to samples sent by a health provider directly to HETL that test positive and to samples from non-governmental labs for which HETL validates positive results.

    Presumptive Positive Cases: These are samples that test positive at non-governmental labs and are sent to HETL for validation.

    Negative Tests: This number represents negative tests from state, reference, or commerical laboratories, or at US CDC.
