Local Girl Scouts compete in Powder Puff Derby
ROCKPORT — On Saturday, April 18, Troop 1341 hosted a district-wide Powder Puff Derby at Camden Rockport Elementary School.
Girls from troops in Knox County were invited to participate in the afternoon racing event. Twenty-three racers registered and participated in the Girl Scout version of the Pinewood Derby.
Mike York volunteered the use of his track and ran the race.
Volunteer leaders from host troop, Elizabeth Mendoza, Rita Ackley, Sara Rademacher, and Heidi O'Donnell, ran concessions and awards. Everyone who attended, family, friends, siblings, and racers, had the opportunity to vote on a variety of certificate categories.
