ROCKLAND — Digital marketing agency Dream Local Digital is introducing a $1500 marketing and communications scholarship along with entry into its internship program. The program is aimed at helping college students who are pursuing a degree in marketing, new media, design, communications, or related field for the Fall 2019 semester.

In addition to the scholarship, the winner will join the Dream Local Digital Internship Program where they will work with experienced industry professionals to identify goals and gain real world experience in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Students will work with marketing, sales, and administrative teams to develop a portfolio of strategic, technical, and results-based work.

The Dream Local Digital Internship Program is open year-round to applicants of all ages. The company has had more than 100 interns, ranging from 15 to 58 years of age, pass through the program over the last ten years including two of three members of its leadership team; the program has helped people leverage their experience to get jobs all over the country, according to Dream Local Digital in a news release.

The company, which celebrated its tenth year in business in January, provides a wide variety of digital marketing and social media services to businesses across the U.S. and Canada, according to Dream Local Digital.

“As one of the earliest agencies to focus on digital marketing, Dream Local Digital hopes that this scholarship will empower young people to continue to innovate in the industry,” the business said in the release.

“We’re extremely excited to support college students entering our industry,” said Chief Strategist Dale Landrith, in the release. “Dream Local has long employed a rich internship program that aims to give real-world insight into a fast-moving industry. It’s through this focus on aiding those pursuing careers in marketing and communications that we’ve been able to attract some of our most talented, full-time team members. Our COO, myself, and many of our other staff started here through our internship program. We hope that this scholarship will encourage students to apply to our internship program, or even to full-time positions in the future.”

To apply for the Marketing and Communications Scholarship, students must be a United States resident attending an accredited college or university and be available 10 hours per week for 3 to 4 weeks, either in office or remotely.

Applicants are asked to submit a completed application and 650-word essay answering the question: What online marketing strategies, tactics, and tools would you use to increase contributions to a nonprofit organization of your choice?

“Dream Local Digital hopes that the scholarship and internship will not only support a student pursuing a career in the greater marketing sphere, but will also increase awareness of the company’s full-time opportunities,” the release said.

Deadline for submission is 11:59 p.m., April 30, 2019. The winner will be chosen by the Dream Local Digital Scholarship Committee and notified by May 31, 2019.

“What has made Dream Local Digital so successful over the last ten years has been its ability to identify trends and move with the industry; much of this comes from hiring fresh minds that can bring new ideas,” said Founder and Client Success Officer Shannon Kinney, in the release. “We want to build upon the success that our internship program has had in giving awardees a leg up with practical and meaningful work experience, coaching and feedback in a fast-paced industry; this scholarship is one way that we plan to do that.”
