Lady Knox DAR publishes new book: Fighting for Freedom, Fighting for Survival

CAMDEN — On Sunday, December 15, at a presentation at the Camden Public Library, Joanne Richards, Regent of the Lady Knox Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, announced immediate availability of Fighting for Freedom, Fighting for Survival, The Revolutionary and War of 1812 Patriots of the Tolman Cemetery, Rockland, Maine.
In her talk, Richards said: “Fighting for Freedom, Fighting for Survival brings to life veterans and patriots who fought to make our country independent from Britain in the Revolution and the War of 1812. The men resting in Tolman Cemetery are real people, not just letters and numbers on a tombstone. These Tolman Patriots lived, worked, laughed, loved, raised families, and transformed a Maine wilderness to create a state. Bound together by loyalty to neighbors and country, these ordinary men lived during an extraordinary era. This is history told through the lives of real people; a history of family, frontier, Midcoast Maine, and wars that created America.”
The resources of the Walsh History Center in the Camden Public Library were instrumental in enabling the writers to complete the book. In appreciation of their invaluable assistance, the Lady Knox Chapter presented a copy of Fighting for Freedom, Fighting for Survival to the Walsh History Center. Through the generous donation of Margaret-Elaine Jinno, a book was also given to the circulating library.
Fighting for Freedom, Fighting for Survival is available for purchase online at Maine Authors Publishing www.maineauthorspublishing.com or your local Sherman’s Book Store.
