Knox Criminal Docket closed cases
ROCKLAND — The following cases were closed in Knox County Unified Court from March 7-11.
Barry M. Baudanza, 47, of South Thomaston, terrorizing in Owls Head July 5, 2021, $200 fine; disorderly conduct, words, gestures in Owls Head July 5, 2021, guilty.
Jordan C. Dennis, 36, of Montville, violating condition of release in Rockport Dec. 29, 2021, dismissed.
Julie Jordan, 48, of Berkshire, N.Y., 48, operating under the influence (alcohol) in Rockport Dec. 26, 2021, $500 fine, license suspended 150 days.
Robert N. Pagano, 53, of Rockland, operating after habitual offender revocation in Thomaston March 17, 2021, $500 fine, 30 days in jail.
Lawrence S. Singer, 67, of Camden, was found not guilty of unlawful sexual contact with a minor child by a Knox County jury. Singer’s trial was held March 9 and 10 with Justice Bruce Mallonee presiding. The jury issued its not guilty verdict on the second day of the trial.
Singer was arrested in April 2021 for the alleged incident that occurred in January 2021. He was free on bail since his arrest.

Michael Wayne Thompson, 43, of Lincolnville, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, two counts, in Camden June 9, 2020, seven years in prison with all but two years suspended, probation three years; theft by unauthorized taking or transfer in Camden June 9, 2020, five years in jail with all but two years suspended, probation two years, restitution of $5,150; illegal possession of a firearm and burglary in Camden June 9, 2020, five years in jail with all but two years suspended, probation two years; theft by unauthorized taking or transfer in Camden June 9, 2020, six months in jail.
Anita M. Volpe, 76, of Tenants Harbor, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, three counts, ten years in prison with all but 18 months suspended, probation three years, restitution $1,043,642.00.
Volpe was sentenced by Justice Daniel Billings in Lincoln County Superior Court on March 4. She was indicted in March 2019 by a Knox County grand jury for three counts of theft and two counts of misuse of entrusted property.
The prosecution requested a 10-year prison sentence with all but five years suspended.
Volpe has declining health and was treated for bladder cancer.
According to the court document, Volpe stole more than $1 million from three incapacitated and elderly clients from Oct. 26, 2012 through April 21, 2018. She served as the attorney and power of attorney for the three victims, who are all now deceased.
Volpe was admitted to the Maine Bar in 1977 and had a solo law practice in Rockland that focused on family law, probate, real estate and social security disability. She surrendered her license in August 2016.
Justice Billings ordered her to pay over $553,000 to the estate of one victim and over $490,000 to another victim in restitution.
Volpe used the stolen funds to pay for items including credit card bills, real estate taxes on her home in Venice, Florida, artwork, and repairs to her home and her downtown Rockland office, according to the court document.
