Knox County Sheriff’s beat: Domestic violence, theft, traffic violations
ROCKLAND — The Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following incidents Feb. 23 to March 1. During this period, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office received 326 calls for service. Calls not listed below concerned ATV problems, alarms, 911 hang-ups, nuisance, erratic vehicles and suspicious complaints. An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at criminal proceedings.
Feb. 23
Deputy Matt Elwell responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in South Thomaston involving a single vehicle. Reportable damage sustained.
Deputies Paul Spear and Lance Mitchell responded to a report of a domestic in Cushing. Upon arrival and after speaking to the subjects involved, this was deemed a verbal argument only and the parties separated for the evening.
Feb. 24
Deputy Michael Sprague began an investigation of theft in Warren. The suspect in this case was located and charged with same.
Elwell responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Warren involving a single vehicle striking a deer. Reportable damage sustained.
Sprague began an investigation of theft in Warren. This is still an active investigation with one suspect named.
Deputy John Hansen responded to a report of trespassing in South Thomaston. The suspects in this case were located and issued a warning for same.
Hansen began an investigation of theft in Cushing. This is still an active investigation with one suspect named.
Mitchell responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident in Warren involving a single vehicle striking a deer. Reportable damage sustained.
Deputy Potter responded to a report of a domestic on Vinalhaven. Upon arrival and after speaking to the parties involved, this was deemed a verbal argument only and the subjects were separated for the evening.
Hansen began an investigation of harassment in Cushing. The suspects in this case were located and issued a written warning for same.
Feb. 25
Subsequent to a traffic stop in Cushing, Deputy Nathaniel Jack issued a summons for operating after suspension.
Deputy Arthur Smith conducted a radar detail in Hope. Four warnings for speed were issued.
Feb. 26
Deputies Smith, Pinkham and Jack responded to a report of a domestic in Cushing. Subsequent to this response, Andrew Monroe, 29, of Rockland was arrested on charges of burglary, domestic violence terrorizing and criminal mischief. He was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.
Sprague responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Warren involving two vehicles. Non-reportable damage sustained.
Spear conducted a radar detail in Union. No violations were noted.
Deputy Jack responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in St. George involving a single vehicle striking a deer. Reportable damage sustained.
Smith conducted a radar detail in Washington. No violations were noted.
Deputies Smith and Jack responded to a report of a domestic in Warren. Subsequent to this response, Robert Armstead, 57, of Warren was arrested on charges of domestic violence assault, a probation violation, possession of drugs and violating conditions of release. He was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.
Feb. 27
Sprague arrested Samuel Beverage, 29, of Rockland, on an outstanding arrest warrant. He was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.
Detective Dwight Burtis arrested Louis Alex, 73, of Thomaston, on a violation of a protection from abuse. He was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.
Deputy Jeremy Joslyn conducted a radar detail on North Haven. No violations were noted.
Subsequent to a traffic stop in the town of South Thomaston, Spear issued a summons for operating after suspension.
Feb. 28
Spear arrested Cameron Kilton, 29, of Warren, on an outstanding arrest warrant. He was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.
Sgt. James Moore and Sgt. John Palmer responded to a report of a disorderly in Union. Subsequently, a summons was issued for assault.
March 1
Sgt. Moore responded to Owls Head conduct a well-being check on an elderly female. Upon arrival, it was found that two subjects were extremely intoxicated. They were issued a warning for disorderly conduct.
Subsequent to a traffic stop in Owls Head, Deputy Pinkham issued a summons for expired inspection.
Deputy Joslyn conducted a radar detail on North Haven. No violations were noted.
Spear responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Appleton involving a single vehicle striking a deer. Non-reportable damage sustained.
Deputy Potter began an investigation of burglary on Vinalhaven. This is still an active investigation with no suspects or leads at this time.
Deputy Spear conducted a radar detail in Washington. Several stops were made due to various traffic infractions.
