Kids fun run, Marshall Point 5k all part of St. George Days

The annual Marshall Point Lighthouse 5k Run and Walk as well as the 1/2 mile kids fun run took place Saturday morning in Port Clyde.
The race, which started and ended at Drift Inn Beach was a medium sized crowd of runners and walkers, but without the majority of local runners one might expect to be there.
The race features some nice straight aways including along the Atlantic Ocean heading down the road to Marshall Point and coming back through Port Clyde which includes a steep climb up the main road where it levels off for just a few feet before you once again are running or walking up a very steep hill. Get past that and it's downhill all the way to the finish.
Seventeen children participated in the Kids Fun Run and 46 ran in the 5K. Top Two finishers in the Kids Fun Run were, Will Minor, eight years old from Georgetown, MA. with a time of 1:46 and Evan Downing nine years from St. George with a time of 1:52. Honorable Mention goes to Charley Hall for her first race, age 22 months from Rockland, with a time of 5:10.
