Karen Wiggin, obituary
ROCKLAND — Karen A. Wiggin, 45, died unexpectedly of natural causes Dec. 31, 2015, at her home.
Born in Rockland on Sept. 10, 1970, she was the daughter of Francis H. and Barbara Flanders Fowles. Educated in local schools, she was a 1989 graduate of Rockland District High School.
While in high school, Karen began employment at Shop-N-Save in Rockland.
On Sept. 3, 1989, she married Steven H. Wiggin in Rockland.
Karen worked at Port Clyde Canning until the closing of that facility. She later worked at McDonalds, WalMart and Burger King, until retiring due to ill health.
More recently, Karen continued her education, taking courses at the University of Maine at Rockland. She was three courses away from earning a Bachelor of Arts in health and human services.
She loved animals, enjoyed reading and was an accomplished seamstress.
She attended Spruce Head Community Church.
In addition to her parents of Rockland, Karen is survived by her daughter, Kimberly L. Wiggin of Rockland; her siblings and their spouses, Robert and Lorraine Fowles of Owls Head, Timothy and Marie Fowles of Camden, and Kimberly and Cornelius Tavarres of Queensbury, N.Y.; the father of her daughter, Steven H. Wiggin of Rockland; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 12 at 11 a.m. at Spruce Head Community Church, 22 Village Road. The Rev. Chris Noland will officiate.
The Wiggin family is being assisted by Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home.
