SEARSMONT — Judith A. Haber-Metcalf Schmiz, 72, of Searsmont, passed away on Feb. 20, 2017. She was born in Rockland on Sept. 23, 1944, to Herbert and Dorothy (Lowe) Metcalf.

Judith was raised in New York and Belmont, Maine, one of nine children. Judy loved bird watching and her adorable dog. She worked as a volunteer for Johanna's Threads and Bare Essentials in Belfast.

Judy was predeceased by her parents. She leaves behind her husband, Francis Schmiz, whom she's been with for 35 years; her sons, Troy Trout of Swanville, and Kenneth Trout and his wife, Barbara, of Texas; her granddaughter, Tina; her sisters, Darlene, Cheryl and Karen Haber; her brothers, Ted, Paul, Bruce and Kevin Haber, and Larry Metcalf; many nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Rena.

A private service was held at the Abundent Grace Ministries of Searsmont, officiated by the Rev. Peter Shef.
