CAMDEN — The Camden Opera House enters 2025 with weekly events.
Friday, Jan. 3 – SoundCheck: "A Christmas Carol” 7:30 p.m.
Everyman Repertory Theatre presents radio-style adaptation of the Dickens favorite for the 10th Day of Christmas at Camden Opera House, 29 Elm St. General admission seats are $10 via camdenoperahouse.com or at door (cash). One-hour show, recorded for free viewing later on Camden Opera House’s YouTube Channel. Sponsored by the Community Arts Fund.
Friday, Jan. 10 – The Blue Café: Gordon Thomas Ward 7:30 p.m.
Americana, bluegrass, folk, indie, jam, rock, singer/songwriter performs in intimate third-floor performance space of Camden Opera House, 29 Elm St. Doors open 7 p.m.; seating is limited. Free/donations to Community Arts Fund.
Saturday, Jan. 18 – Resurgence Dance Company 7:30 p.m.
Resurgence Dance Company presents “The Siren of Crystal Lake,” a full-length contemporary ballet, at Camden Opera House, 29 Elm St. Choose-your-own reserved seat tickets are $20 in advance/$25 day-of-show. Tickets via camdenoperahouse.com. PWYC tickets also available at door, cash only. Haunting original show features elements of horror and fake blood; appropriate for brave viewers age 8 and older. Snow date: Jan. 19.
Saturday, Jan. 25 - “A Peace of Forest” 7 p.m.
Created in Whitefield, “A Peace of Forest” is a quiet 90-minute film that celebrates the beauty and intimacy of Maine’s wildlife, allowing viewers to experience a peaceful and mysterious world filled with complex relationships and ways of wonder. Filmmakers and producers Lee Ann and Thomas Szelog will host a Q&A immediately following the screening. General admission tickets are $15, $5 under 18, via camdenoperahouse.com, 236-3154 and at the door 30 minutes before showtime.
The Camden Opera House is also hosting the Banff Film Festival World Tour screenings, Jan. 31 and Feb. 1. Look for more information at a later date.
