Irene G. Riley, obituary
BELFAST — Irene Glenese Riley, 86, passed away peacefully ON Feb. 25, 2017, in her sleep, at the Woodlands Memory Care Facility in Rockland. Born in East Knox Maine to the late Wilfred and Mary Walker, she was a longtime resident of the Woodlands of Rockland.
She enjoyed her caregivers and new friends. She loved greeting caregivers Laura, Michelle, Beth and Brian each day. Irene always stated she would be ready for Jesus to take her home so she could spend eternity with her husband, Herbert; her son, Nelson "Lucky"; her grandson, Scott; and her parents.
Irene worked from 1956 to 1995 at the Penobscot Frozen Foods. She loved working there and made lifelong friends. She loved going to Belfast Park during the summer with her sister, Mary, and all the kids, spending the days swimming and playing. She also loved going to lawn sales with her husband, Herbie, on the weekends. In later years, she loved going shopping and lunch with Mary, Brenda, Dan and Nancy.
Irene was also predeceased by her seven siblings. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Nancy Riley; her 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; her sister, Mary Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 3, at 11 a.m. at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave. in Belfast. A burial is being planned for spring.
