THORNDIKE — Mount View Middle School has found its new middle school principal, concluding an administrative hiring period that saw four new administrators hired across the district. 

At its school board meeting July 15, the RSU 3 Board of Directors approved the hiring of David Holinger as principal. 

Holinger is a former freshman science teacher at Old Orchard Beach High School and Lewiston High School, according to a press release from RSU 3. 

Most recently, the release stated, Holinger served as the Head of School for Kennebec Montessori School in Fairfield. 

He holds a bachelor’s in marine sciences from the University of New England and a master’s in educational leadership from Thomas College. 

Quinton S. Donahue stepped down from his post leading Mount View Middle School, a position he has held since 2014, to accept the same role at Gorham Middle School.

In a letter to parents, he noted the decision was made to be closer to family.

“This is a very special community,” Donahue wrote. “I will miss the many relationships that have been built with students, staff, parents, and community members.”

The middle school principal position oversees approximately 290 students in sixth through eighth grades, according to the position’s job posting.

“The amazing teachers and staff of MVMS are looking forward to working with the new principal to continue our good work going forward,” Donahue wrote. “The teacher leaders have already set aside summer time to help support with the transition.”

In addition to a new middle school principal, RSU 3 will begin the upcoming school year with a new superintendent, assistant superintendent and elementary school principal. 

The district also combined its middle and high school athletic director position with the high school’s assistant principal position.
