High school sailors round the mark in Rockland at regional regatta
On Saturday September 23, under a gray sky and light winds, 38 high school sailors from nine Midcoast schools and organizations gathered at the Apprenticeshop in Rockland to compete in the Pen Bay Sailing League’s first fall season regatta.
Teams from Camden Hills, Oceanside, Islesboro, Cape Elizabeth, Boothbay, Lincoln Academy, George Stevens, Mount Desert Island and Rockland Community Sailing competed in A and B Divisions in 8 races on a 3/4 mile course set up inside Rockland’s harbor breakwater.
Team honors went to Oceanside with Camden Hills a close second. Top individual winners included Camden Hills’ Charlie Conover and Ava Tobias in A Division and Oceanside’s Henri Weymouth and Sarah Valance in B Division.

Oceanside A - Emmet Dorr and Raya Leuhman; Camden Hills B - Olive Conover and Greer LaFiura, as well as Sophia Skrivanich and Autumn Hill, Trysdan Galvin and Violet Born, Alma Bewsher and Samantha Conover, Eloise Mooney and Rosie Brimley, and Camille Rose Bandy.
