Herring Gut Learning Center's Marine Science Summer Camp
PORT CLYDE — Spend a week with Herring Gut Learning Center's Marine Science Summer Camp discovering the different coastal habitats of Maine.
Roll up the sleeves and explore the rocky shore, salt marshes, mudflats, and more. Look under rocks for sea stars, dig in the muck for clams, and even wade into the water and net small fish.
Every day campers will visit field sites for hands-on ocean exploration guided by experienced and talented summer camp staff.
On Thursdays campers will hop on the boat Archangel, to explore 450-acre Allen Island, discovered by George Weymouth in 1605. This private island will give campers another opportunity to explore Maine's marine habitats.
Camp runs Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Herring Gut Learning Center's campus in Port Clyde.
There are four sessions running this summer:
July 20 - 24 for campers entering third and fourth grade
July 27 – July 31 for campers entering fifth, sixth and seventh grade
August 3 - 7 for campers entering third and fourth grade
August 10 - 14 for campers entering third and fourth grade
The tuition is $250 for residents of Knox County and $300 for non-residents. Go to www.herringgut.org to find registrations forms and more information.
