Gladys Mitchell, obituary
CUSHING — Gladys E. “Dutchie” Mitchell, 74, died Feb. 22, 2017, at the Sussman House in Rockport.
Born in New London, Conn., on Feb. 2, 1943, she was one of 13 children of Fred and Ruth Politti Moreash. She attended schools in the New London area.
On May 23, 1988, she married Stephen Mitchell in Stonington, Conn. A very sociable person, Dutchie loved to be in the sun and at the beach, spending time with her grandchildren. She was very talented, loved art, drawing and painting. More recently she also enjoyed doing puzzles.
In addition to her parents, Dutchie was predeceased by three siblings, Eddie Moreash, Fred Moreash and Patricia Young. She is survived by her husband, Stephen of Cushing; two sons and their wives, Gary Williams and his companion, Lois, of Westerly, R.I., and David and Ginger Williams of Exeter, R.I.; four daughters and their husbands, Laura and John Shell of Seabeck, Wash., Lana Williams and her companion, Danny, and Kimberly Fells and her husband, Anthony, all of Ledyard, Conn., and Annette and Adam Kennedy of Cushing; three step-children and their spouses, Alana and Ron Cota, and Patricia McNally, all of Grotton, Conn., and Deborah and Ron Miller of Gales Ferry, Conn; her siblings, Harold Moreash of Ledyard, Conn., Anna Mae Biel of Youngstown, Ohio, and Shirley Jones of Sumter, N.C.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, Feb. 28, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic, Conn. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 1st at Elm Grove Cemetery, 197 Greenmanville Ave. in Mystic, Conn.
