Get off your can and picket
Last Saturday, March 15, I joined nearly 200 others at noon in Rockland’s Chapman Park for a one-hour protest against all things Trump and Musk.
The vast majority of drivers cruising by honked in approval and solidarity.
My challenge to you is to show up next Saturday for this weekly event supported by both the local Audacity/Indivisible organization and the Knox Country Democrats. Bring a friend, or two, or three, or come on your own. Bring a sign or noise maker, or borrow ones they provide.
You’ll feel good being with others who are supporting this growing movement in Maine and across the country…about doing something to stand against the horrible abuse of power taking place in our country.
Damariscotta now has hundreds of citizens showing up each week. Surely we can match or exceed that number. As a friend said, heading off to protest the Vietnam War in the late 1960s, “Get off your can and picket!” (Remember, it was the 60s.)
