Gertrude Holden, obituary
UNION — Gertrude Harriet Holden, 91, passed away on Dec. 3, 2015, at Sussman House in Rockport.
She was born Sept. 13, 1924, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Francis and Natalie Scheie Milne. Gertrude grew up in Northport, N.Y. She graduated from Northport High School in 1942.
Gertrude worked at Grumman Aircraft on Long Island, N.Y. Gertrude married Harry B. Holden in 1944, they were happily married for 49 years.
“Grammy Gert” was a member of Grace Fellowship Bible Chapel in Union for many years. She was well known as a "Prayer Warrior," having a prayer list of 14 pages.
Gertrude is survived by her children, Charles and Susan Holden of Northport, N.Y., Harry and SukCha Holden of Medford, N.Y., and Mariann Holden of Union; three grand-children, Robert and Laura Holden of East Northport, N.Y., Heather and David Garcia of Kusnacht, Switzerland, and Adam and Debra Holden of Massapequa, N.Y.; and five great-grandchildren, Wade, Erik, Sarah, Parker and Abigail.
Gertie was predeceased by her husband, Harry; and her grandson, Harry Holden.
A funeral service was held Dec. 7, 2015, at Burpee, Carpenter and Hutchins Funeral Home in Rockland, with interment at Fairview Cemetery in Warren.
