Georgia Hunt, obituary
WARREN — Georgia A. Hunt, 86, died May 22, 2014, at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport. She was born Dec. 15, 1927, in Buffalo, N.Y., to George Ort and Huldah Westberg Ort.
She grew up in Phillipsburg, N.J., and attended Phillipsburg High School and Newark School of Fine Art.
Georgia was a well-known artist and worked with oils and acrylics.
In Little York, N.Y., she owned a grist mill, where she had an art gallery and taught art. She was involved in many art groups, including the Tinicum Art group and the Kittatinny Art Group.
She worked in retail sales at Barker's store in the Flemington Mall. She enjoyed quilting and silk-screening Christmas cards.
Georgia attended the Federated Church in Thomaston, the Finnish Church and Warren Congregational Church. She was an active member of the Upper Black Eddy Luthern Church in Upper Black Eddy, Pa., where she loved to sing in the choir with her beautiful operatic voice. She enjoyed going antiquing and helping the community and local charities. She became a member of the Order of Eastern Star after her husband joined the Masons. Through him she was also a member of the Shrine Ladies.
Georgia vacationed in Maine and eventually retired to Cushing with her husband in 1986. They moved to Warren in 2000. She taught at Medomak Valley High School and for Camden-Rockport Adult Education, teaching art.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Franklyn D. Fegley; by her second husband, James R. Hunt; and her brother, David Ort.
She is survived by her sons, Gary Fegley of Alpha, N.J., Allan H. Hunt of Chandler Heights, Ariz., and James A. Hunt of Warren; her daughter, Huldah Felix of Yakima, Wash.; her sister, Janet Metz of Easton, Pa.; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A gathering to celebrate Georgia's life will be held Tuesday, May 27 at 1 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St. in Waldoboro. Burial will follow in the Village Cemetery in Thomaston. There will be a reception at Nativity Lutheran Church, Old County Road in Rockport, following the services.
