The week of March 13-19 is AmeriCorps week. Across the country more than 250,000 AmeriCorps members are helping their communities through their service in education, the environment, senior services, and food corps.

In Waldo County four AmeriCorps members are offering hope and enrichment to youth ages 12-18 in the Game Loft/I Know ME program. AmeriCorps members in this program mentor youth to help them become adults who are confident, competent, caring, connected and contributing. They work with students in RSU 71, RSU 3, RSU 20 and the Ecology Learning Center.

AmeriCorps members also help recruit and train community volunteers who stretch the resources of this local program.
