The annual Festival of Lights Silent Auction of holiday trees, wreaths and stockings, will be held Nov. 28, from 1 to 4 p.m., at the Rockland Public Library. There will be free apple cider and cookies available to all during the auction.

"The yearly event features a dazzling array of creatively decorated small trees, wreaths and colorful stockings (handmade made by talented volunteers) just in time for holiday decorating and gifting," said Friends of Rockland Public Library, in a news release.

“Our annual Festival of Lights Silent Auction delights everyone who attends and has grown into one of Rockland's most beloved holiday traditions,” said Joni Hall, auction co-chair. “We're so grateful for the tremendous generosity and creativity of our local businesses and of course to our community for supporting the event. Wait till you see this year's gorgeous auction and raffle items."

Each item is decorated with a specific theme by a local business and contains gift certificates and other offerings from that business. This year’s contributors include 250 Main Hotel, Primo restaurant, Jess’s Market, and other popular local businesses.

The event also includes raffles for an individual tree, wreath and stocking as prizes. Raffle tickets are $3 each or 2 for $5, with tickets available at the library checkout desk and the Book Stop downstairs. Raffle ticket sales start November 14 and continue through the Silent Auction. The winning tickets will be drawn at 4 p.m. on November 28. Need not be present to win.

All proceeds from this holiday event go directly to support the Rockland Public Library. The Friends of Rockland Public Library is a volunteer organization whose mission is to support the work of the library. The Friends raise funds to help pay for library computers, children’s books, the interlibrary loan program, and programs for children and adults so that the library remains a valuable resource for the community.
