Friends of Music concert series welcomes Brass Roots Trio on Sept. 22
CAMDEN — The Friends of Music Concert Series, an outreach program of The First Congregational Church of Camden, welcomes the Brass Roots Trio, Sunday, Sept. 22, at 4 p.m., to the church sanctuary at 55 Elm Street.
“Classical by intent and eclectic by content, Brass Roots Trio’s programs take unexpected twists and turns as they flow from mesmerizing Baroque melodies to decadent tangos of Piazzolla to virtuosic showpieces of Gershwin and Bernstein,” said the Church, in a news release. “And if the pyrotechnic musical fireworks were not enough, the horn player puts down his horn and sings an operatic aria or spiritual with his gorgeous tenor voice.”
Travis Heath (trumpet & flugelhorn), Douglas Lundeen (French horn & vocalist) and Rosetta Senkus Bacon (piano) infuse their music with exuberant energy, and their warmhearted presentation makes an immediate connection with the audience, according to the release.
A pioneer of this instrumentation – piano, trumpet and horn – Brass Roots Trio has played to standing ovations and rave reviews in every corner of the US and England since 2004. Their tours have included performances at Oxford University, St. James Piccadilly in London, the Chicago Brass Festival, and on Community Concert Series, Chamber Music Series and NPR. In 2009 the trio was honored to perform for President and Mrs. Obama and their guests at the White House.
As always, each Friends of Music concert is free and open to the public, although donations to sustain the program will be accepted at the door, or electronically via the church website.
