BELFAST — The Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP) offers free Family Law clinics throughout Maine, and is now extending its services to the residents of the Restorative Justice Project’s (RJP) Re-entry Center.

The Restorative Judgment Project’s mission is to ameliorate the harm caused by crimes.

The RJP, in conjunction with the Department of Corrections and the Sheriff’s Department, operates the re-entry center. The residents are men who, near the end of their incarceration, have applied and been accept,ed to live in the re-entry center and gain the skills necessary to re-enter the community successfully. Many of these men have family law issues.

Family law matters include, but are not limited to divorce, custody, visitation, spousal and child support.

Waldo County’s clinic runs on the second and fourth Monday each month (except for holidays) from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the District Courthouse, 103 Church Street, Belfast.
