ROCKLAND — Rockland police continue with four investigations involving juveniles that all occurred on Monday, Dec. 12, 2022.

According to a RPD news release, during the early morning hours, several subjects, suspected to be juveniles, committed multiple grab-and-run thefts of alcohol from a convenience store in Rockland.

Shortly thereafter, Rockland Police responded to a hit-and-run motor vehicle crash on Pleasant Street, where several subjects fled from the scene immediately after the crash. It was later learned the vehicle had been stolen from downtown Rockland, unbeknownst at the time by the owner.

Khyllie Cochran, 18, who was recently released on a deferred disposition, was charged with Violation of Conditions of Release.

“The investigation remains active and more charges on Cochran and several juvenile suspects are expected,” said the release. “Rockland Police have reason to believe several individuals not directly involved in the incident have information about what occurred.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Jacob Labo at JLABO@RocklandMaine.Gov or by reaching out via the departments Facebook messenger.

Unrelated to the earlier incidents, on Dec. 12, around 10 a.m., Rockland Police were called to Oceanside High School for an out-of-control student. Following protocol, the school was moved to a hold in place status, and students and teachers stayed in their classrooms. Classes continued as planned, but students were not allowed in the hallway until the incident was resolved.

Rockland Police made contact with a juvenile who was destroying school property. The juvenile was arrested and charged with assault and refusing to submit to arrest. The juvenile, who was already on conditions of release for a prior felony assault on an officer charge, was released (per the Juvenile Community Corrections Officer / Department of Corrections) on another set of conditions of release.

During the evening of Dec. 12, Rockland Police were called to a supermarket in Rockland for a report of a juvenile suspect who had allegedly stolen commonly abused over the counter medication. Rockland Police charged the juvenile with theft. During this time, the store asset protection made Rockland Police aware of several prior thefts by juveniles of alcohol and whip cream (often misused as an inhalant). These thefts remain under investigation with charges pending on multiple individuals.
