Fort Point Trail re-opens June 1 with ribbon cutting ceremony
ST GEORGE — Join the Conservation Commission and the St. George Historical Society on National Trails Day, Saturday, June 1, for the ribbon cutting ceremonies and the official re-opening of the recently completed Universal Access trail leading to historic Fort St. Georges.
The celebration will begin at 1 p.m. at the trailhead located at the intersection of Wiley’s Corner Road and Rt. 131. Explore this trail and the amazing views up and down the river from the “Point.” After the short walk, join us across the street for some light refreshments at the St George Historical Society’s Andrew Robinson Homestead which will be open for visitors.
“Also feel free to take a walk on the newly opened Robinson Trail, which is a nice in and out hike of 1.75 miles,” said the Town of St. George, in a news release.
It is the southerly end of what was previously called the Jones Brook Trail, which no longer connects to the Town Forest trail.
Due to the limited parking at the trailhead, it is being reserved for visitors with limited mobility. Other visitors will be directed to additional parking at the St. George Grange on Wiley’s Corner Road or at the Andrew Robinson Homestead.
“We appreciate your cooperation,” said the Town of St. George.
