WARREN — Florence Adele (Pearse) Beverage, 93, formerly of South Hope and Union, passed away at home in Warren, surrounded by loved ones on Monday, August 31, 2020.

Born on April 6, 1927, she was the daughter of Alice Eleanor (Libby) and Crosby Marcellus Pearse. On June 2, 1945, Florence married Hartley George Beverage. Together through almost 72 years of marriage, they raised 5 children, enjoyed 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Florence was a worker and was always busy keeping an immaculate home. Leading an active lifestyle, she ate a healthy diet, and followed the orders of her doctor to a T.

Teaching by example, Florence was truly the “salt of the Earth,” through her faith, strong family values and values of right and wrong. She was loved and admired by all who knew her.

Florence worked right alongside Hartley helping him do many things. Her employment included GTE Sylvania in Waldoboro, doing summer camp laundry, worked at the Union Upholstery Shop, the Knox Woolen Mill, and working on their poultry farm. She cared for many children in the area, including Dr. Deborah Peabody, who ultimately cared for her in her final days under hospice, with great compassion and fond memories.

Florence was a member of the Pioneer Grange, the Union Senior Citizens, Peoples United Methodist Church in Union, and the knitting group in Union, which made prayer shawls for those in need and baby hats to the Lincoln Health OB unit.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Dr. Deb and the hospice workers for their kind care. Her niece, Roxanne (Beverage) York, should be acknowledged for her support and help in recent weeks.

Florence was predeceased by her husband, Hartley G. Beverage, Sr.; grandson, Jamie Beverage; two brothers, Basil and Donald Pearse; and sisters, Marion (Pearse) Leonard and Geneva (Pearse) Hall.

Surviving are her children, Judith (Bruce) Stimpson of Zephryhills, Florida and Topsham; Kenneth (Sara Walker) Beverage of Leesburg, Florida; Hartley G. Beverage, Jr. of China; James Beverage and his wife, Glenda (Martin) of Jefferson; and Bradley Beverage and his wife, Anne (Lufkin) of Warren; two sisters, Mildred (Pearse) O’Jala (99), Barbara (Pearse) Ludwig (96); brother-in-law, Robert Hall, and sisters-in-law, Edith Brown, Estelle Libby and Alma Tilley, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Florence will be sadly missed, however the family rejoices knowing that she has been reunited with Hartley and those who have gone on before her.

A private graveside service will be held in Hope Grove Cemetery in Hope at the convenience of the family.

If desired, memorial gifts may be made to Peoples United Methodist Church, 31 Depot Street, Union, ME 04862 or to the American Heart Association at donatenow.heart.org/.
