Firefighters called to Canns Beach Road electrical fire
OWLS HEAD — Shortly after 5:45 p.m., Saturday evening, a resident and a visiting caregiver were interrupted by a pounding on the door. Out of state renters of a house further down the one-lane road happened to be driving by when they spotted flames coming from the exterior of 50 Canns Beach Road.
Having been alerted to the fire, the two occupants made a swift exit, with the caregiver grabbing her travel bag and her shoes from inside the door. Once outside, the caregiver said she pulled out her cellphone and called 911. They were eventually joined by a third person who lived in the other part of the duplex.
No one was injured as a result of the fire, which remained contained to the exterior electrical box. As a precaution, responding firefighters from Owls Head, Rockland, South Thomaston, and St. George ripped off some additional siding from around the electrical panel. They also used fans to ventilate the interior.
The last remaining fire personnel returned to their stations at approximately 6:40 p.m. At that time, the house was turned back over to the owner.
