Fingerstyle Ukelele Workshop with Jeff Weinberger
Jeff Weinberger will lead a Fingerstyle Ukelele Workshop, Saturday, Jan. 11, dedicated to right hand technique. The class will cover essential picking patterns and apply them to actual songs from simple folk tunes to classical pieces to pop hits.
Fingerstyle ukulele is a natural progression for players who want to move beyond simple songs with just a few chords. The result is a fuller sound and more complex presentation. Fingerstyle opens new possibilities, including the ability to play chords and melodies simultaneously, much like a solo pianist. Once fingerstyle patterns are understood and mastered, the student will be able to pick folk songs, rock, jazz, classical, and more – everything from the Beatles to Bach to Jake Shimabukuro, according to Bay Chamber, in a news release.
The workshop, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., is open to all except absolute beginners and limited to 12 students.
Loaner ukeleles available with advance notice.
Fee is $20. To reserve your spot, email: susan.m@baychamber.org.
