    CAMDEN — During the month of March, the Camden Public Library is hosting an exhibit of photographs by Patrisha McLean called “14 to 41: Three Years Later.” The exhibit, in the library’s Picker Room, features portraits of 41 women who have escaped domestic violence and celebrates the progress made by McLean’s organization, Finding Our Voices. The library will be hosting two events in conjunction with the exhibit.

    The first event, on Tuesday, March 22, at 7 p.m., will provide the public with an opportunity to hear from McLean and local survivors about their journeys and their work with Finding Our Voices. McLean and six survivors will take part in a panel discussion on Zoom.

    "There is an awful lot to talk about when we finally break our silence,” said McLean, in a news release. "In the ‘Survivors Speak’ Zoom event on March 22, we’ll discuss topics ranging from how domestic abuse affects the children and mother-child relationship, to anger, to how the abuse continues even after we manage to physically escape."  

    The panel members will talk about how Finding Our Voices functions as a grassroots network educating others about intimate partner abuse through their sister-support groups, book club discussions, a WERU-FM radio show and podcast, and collaborations with schools through curriculum.     The public is also invited to meet McLean and survivors in person in the Camden Public Library’s Picker Room during a reception on Friday, March 25, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Attendees can view the exhibit, ask questions of the survivors featured in the portraits, and check out the display of domestic violence awareness books that the library has curated to support the exhibit.
