WARREN — A two-car crash at the intersection of Route 90 and Eastern Road (Route 131) in Warren Thursday afternoon caused minor injuries to one of the drivers and totaled a 2008 Jeep Patriot sport utility vehicle.

Knox County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the accident, which occurred at approximately 12:25 p.m May 15, and found a damaged 2013 Dodge Caravan and the Jeep on its roof in the middle of the road. Warren Fire and Rescue also responded.

The investigation determined that Joseph Brouthers, 71, of Friendship was attempting to make a left turn onto Route 90 from Oyster River Road when he turned in front of the Dodge Caravan, being driven by Diane Sleek, 62, of Freeport. Sleek was driving south  from Eastern Road, straight through the intersection, according to Chief Deputy Tim Carroll.

Sleek was not injured in the crash and her van sustained front and and passenger side damage.

Brouthers suffered minor injuries, with complaints of pain and cuts to his hands. The Jeep was totaled.

Deputies issued a summons to Brouthers for failure of left turning vehicle to yield to right of way.
