FREEDOM — Driver inexperience led to a unique vehicle accident on Ayer Ridge Road in Freedom on Nov. 3.

Waldo County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Mulligan was patrolling the area when he observed the driver of a vehicle, a 2003 Ford Focus, attempting to reverse her course of travel.

The operator misjudged the location of the driveway she was trying to use to turn around, instead backing up onto a utility pole support wire. By the time the vehicle stopped it had backed so far up the support wire that it was resting on its front bumper, according to a media report.

Mulligan was able to help the uninjured driver from her vehicle and it was towed from the scene.

Freedom Fire and Rescue assisted Central Maine Power in examining the support wire.
