ROCKLAND — Douglas A. Vigneron, 76, died unexpectedly, following a period of declining health, Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport. 

Born in Buffalo, New York, July 10, 1944, he was the son of Eugene and Geraldine Wolfertz Vigneron. Doug spent his early years in Snyder, New York before moving with his family to Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts. He was a 1962 graduate of Wellesley High School, attended Hobart College and later Norheastern University. Later Doug made his daughter Emily proud in upstate New York, by getting his M.A. in history at SUNY, and later an M.A. at Harvard University in the oasis of the Episcopal Divinity School.

Throughout his life, Doug and his family lived in Brookline and Cambridge, Massachusetts before retiring to Rockland.  

Doug was a Deacon and was very active in the Episcopal Church. He was active recently at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church in Thomaston.  

For many years he served as the principal of an executive search and temporary employment firm located in Boston, and he was proud of his work as a social worker.  

A lover of history, he had a passion for antique and classic automobiles, and often volunteered as a Model-T driver at the Owls Head Transportation Museum.

Mr. Vigneron is survived by his wife, Frances Vigneron; his daughter Emily Vigneron both of Rockland; his daughter Abby Ann Vigneron; as well as his brother, Jerry Vigneron of Naples, Florida.

In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Vigneron’s family will remember his life privately.
