BELFAST — “From the Dory Boat: the Magic of Belfast Bay” a selection of photographs by Nicolle Littrell will be on display in the Kramer Gallery of the Belfast Free Library, July 1-31, 2022. The Kramer Gallery located on the ground floor of the library, 106 High St. is open during library hours.

The photographs in this collection are of the seascapes and riverscapes captured from the vantage point of Littrell’s small wooden dory boat named Sorciere. This exhibit represents the intimate relationship developed with place, in this case the watery environs of Belfast Bay and the Passagassawakeag River, part of Penobscot Bay. The spellbinding wonder of this watershed is reflected in Littrell’s photographs: the ever-changing interplay of light and sky on the water, the ebb and flow of tide and surf, celestial occurrences and the vibrancy and vagaries of the seasons.

Nicolle Littrell is a licensed Maine Guide, filmmaker and photographer. She has been rowing in Belfast Bay since 2012. Last summer, Littrell became a Maine Guide and launched DoryWoman Rowing, offering lessons, guided tours and specialty rows in Belfast Bay and the Passagassawakeag River. She rows year-round and documents all of her outings.
