Dorothy A. Setter, obituary
CAMDEN — Dorothy Allenwood Setter, 96, died Feb. 12, 2016, at her home on Belfast Road (Route 1) in Camden. Dot was born Nov. 18, 1920, on Kent Farm on Belfast Road to parents Lewis E. and Ruby Kimble Allenwood. Her father, Lewis, was a "herdsman" for Sagamore Farms, which was located where the Camden Hills State Park entrance is now.
Dot graduated from Camden High School in the Class of 1940 and attended the Ballard Business School in Rockland following graduation. She worked for Gilbert Harmon Esq., Passmore Lumber Company, Alex Gilmore Esq, Talbot Stevenson Insurance, followed by 23 years in the office of the Knox Woolen Company in Camden.
In 1955, she married the late Major Ludwig Setter who died in 1957.
Dot was preceded in death by four brothers, Alton, Herbert, Harold and Maurice; and two sisters, Laura and Evelyn. She is survived by four nephews, Gregory and Carol of Northport, William of Searsmont, and Robert and Mark of Bowdoinham; and two nieces, Patricia Allenwood of Westbrook and Katherine Duppi of Bowdoinham.
Until last year, Dot was very active and kept beautiful gardens and a lawn at her home, even though she was legally blind the past several years.
Dot's family and friends will remember her as a great example of older Maine work ethics.
At Dot's request there will be no funeral services.
