Dorothy Morong, obituary
CAMDEN — Dorothy E. Lassonde Morong, 91, died peacefully Dec. 10, 2015, surrounded by her family at the Sussman House in Rockport. Born in Concord, N.H., on Sept. 1, 1924, she was the daughter of Harold J. and Marie P. (Lamotte) Lassonde.
On Oct. 7, 1946, she married Charles E. Morong at Holy Cross Church in South Portland, where they lived until moving to Camden in 1948. Dottie and Charlie were married for 64 years at the time of Charlie's death in 2010.
Dottie was a communicant of Our Lady of Good Hope Church, where she was a long-time member of the women's club. In earlier years, she was a member of the Rockland District of the Maine Diocesan Council of Catholic Women; serving as legislative chairperson for several years. During the same time period, she was also a member of the Camden Junior Women's Club.
Dottie was educated in both parochial and public schools in Concord and Penacook, N.H., and attended the Institute of Arts and Sciences in Manchester, N.H. She was employed by the Smiling Cow for many years and was a floral designer at W.T. Grants for several years until her retirement in 1975.
She was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, and was happiest spending time with those she loved.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Dottie was predeceased by a daughter, Sharon L. Roberts; her son-in-law, James Roberts; and her brother, Harold J. Lassonde II. She is survived by a son, Michael Morong of Buxton; a daughter, Jeri Holm and her husband, Bill, of Camden; her grandchildren, Shane Davis, and Max and Katie Holm, all of Camden, and Tanner Roberts and his two children, Alexis and Dominic of Sebago; her sister, Virginia Edelstein of Camden; her brother-in-law, Everett Morong of Scarborough; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit Thursday, Dec. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Long Funeral Home, 9 Mountain St. in Camden. A mass in celebration of her life will be held Friday, Dec. 18, at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Good Hope Church on Union Street in Camden.
