Donna Robinson, obituary
THOMASTON — Donna F. Robinson, 74, died peacefully May 10, 2014, at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport, following a period of declining health.
Born April 26, 1940, on Whitehead Island, Grand Manan, New Brunswick, Canada, she was the daughter of Oscar and Maude Cossaboom Frankland.
As a young girl, Donna moved with her family to Eastport, where she was a 1958 graduate of Shead High School. Following high school Donna worked for several years at A&P Market.
In the early 1960s, Donna met William L. “Bill” Robinson in Eastport, where he was on a stop over with the U.S. Navy. The two were married March 14, 1963. Together they followed Bill's military career, moving to several different posts, including one in Alaska. Over the years their family grew, and Donna dedicated herself as a full-time mother. She was a family-oriented person and spent most of her free time caring for her children.
Moving to Thomaston in 1976 following her husband's retirement, Donna continued to make her four children her number one priority.
Donna loved to be active and enjoyed going to bingo several times a week. She also took great pleasure in weekly card games with her neighborhood friends. Another favorite pastime was dancing at Echo Hill with her husband.
Predeceased by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Harold and Boyd Frankland; and two sisters, Marie Emery and Ramona Moholland; Donna is survived by her children, Wanda Robinson and her companion, Dave Hamner, of Norridgewock, Shelly Robinson of Brookline, Mass., Michael Robinson of Thomaston, and Stacy Robinson and her companion, John Bartley, of Augusta; her brother, Buddy Frankland and his wife, Edna, of Holden; and four grandchildren, Nathan Rogers and Hannah, Andrew and Sarah Robinson.
Donna's family will remember her life privately; interment will be beside her husband at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.
