THOMASTON — Thomaston Public Library has received a collection development grant from Diverse BookFinder, in partnership with Bates College, the Brooks Foundation and the Maine Humanities Council, to expand and diversify its children’s picture book collection.

“Diverse BookFinder offers a Collection Analysis Tool that allowed us to identify which racial and cultural groups were underrepresented in our collection, which the grant allows us to begin to rectify,” said the Library, in a news release. “We are delighted to be adding wonderful and beautiful picture books by and about Black, Latinx, Indigenous, Middle Eastern, and Asian people to our collection for Thomaston’s families.”

Visit the Library website at www.thomaston.lib.me.us/our-collection/diverse-bookfinder-grant-collection/ for the full list of titles purchased and to request a hold for any of the books.
