BELFAST — Daniel G. McKinnon Jr., 77, passed away Jan. 5, 2016, at his residence in Belfast.

He attended Belfast High School and worked as an over-the-road truck driver along the East Coast for 30 years. Later he was a friendly face at Jack's Grocery for 11 years. Daniel enjoyed playing pool and poker with friends and liked to try his luck with scratch tickets. Once every summer he and his wife would take a trip to Hampton Beach, N.H., as well as day trips.

Dan was always ready to lend a helping hand. He was jovial and friendly with the typical Maine dry humor. One of his greatest enjoyments was his time with family.

He is predeceased by his parents, Daniel G. and Vivian (Trafton) McKinnon Sr.; and his brothers, Charles and Myron. Dan is survived by his wife of 24 years, Mary McKinnon of Belfast; his children, Denise Clayton and her husband, David, of Magna, Utah, Jennifer McKinnon of Winterport, Alicia Dunn of Liberty, Gregory Arsenault and his wife, Becky, of Northport, and Dorinda Weeks and her husband, Travis, of Newport; his siblings, Jane Kapala, Mary Gilbeault and Irene Miles, all of Massachusetts; his grandchildren, Stacey, Brody, Paul, Monica, Mariha, Aaron and Aden; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; as well as his friends, P.J., Bob, Jeff and Bill.

A celebration of Dan's life will be held Sunday, Jan. 17 at 1 p.m.at his home, 306 Swan Lake Ave. in Belfast.
