CAMDEN — Corine Lillian Elwell, age 92, a resident of The Gardens, Quarry Hill, in Camden, died peacefully Thursday, October 19, 2021.

Born in Schertz, Texas, May 9, 1929 she was the daughter to Walter A. and Edwina Schmidt Seiler. She worked as a telephone operator for many years in Schertz, Texas until she met Roddy. Then as an Air Force couple, Roddy and Corine lived in Schertz, Texas, Lajes AFB, Azores, Warner Robins, Georgia, and Charleston, South Carolina before settling in Maine after Roddy’s retirement from the Air Force. They later moved to Gaffney, South Carolina where they enjoyed warmer weather and traveling. After Roddy’s death, Corine moved to Salem, New Hampshire near her daughter Leanne, and then to Spruce Head with daughter Sherry.

Corine graduated from Cosmetology School in Warner Robins, Georgia and worked for many years in Dora’s Beauty Shop. After moving back to Maine, she worked at Fabric Bonanza in Rockland. She was a volunteer at Pen Bay Medical Center and was a member of the South Thomaston ambulance. She was an accomplished seamstress and homemaker and loved to cook and garden. She was especially proud of her flower gardens, both in Maine and South Carolina.

Predeceased by her husband, Cecil (Roddy) Elwell in 1998; Corine is survived by two daughters, Sherry Hansen and her husband John of South Thomaston, and Leanne O’Hara and her husband Jeffrey of Antioch, Tennessee; grandchildren, Laura McLennan and her husband Doug of Spruce Head, Erik Hansen and his wife Katie of Spruce Head, Matthew O’Hara and his wife Sarah of Raymond, New Hampshire and Katherine Chasnov and husband Ben of Nashville, Tennessee; great-grandsons, Shaun McLennan (Ashley) and Thomas McLennan (Abby) and great-granddaughters, Searra and Baylee Hansen all of Spruce Head, Jonathan, Declan and Caleb O’Hara of Raymond, New Hampshire, and Ruth Chasnov of Nashville, Tennessee; as well as 4 great-great-grandchildren, Nolan, Liam, Mason and Nora McLennan all of Spruce Head.

Private interment will be in Ocean View Cemetery, South Thomaston.
