THOMASTON — Devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Constance “Connie” Marie (Willis) Ellis, 89, of Thomaston, Maine, was called home by the Lord on Monday, October 11, 2021.

Connie was born on August 10, 1932, in Brockton, Massachusetts, to Carleton and Grace (Farnsworth) Willis. She graduated from Brockton High School, where she first met fellow classmate David Ellis. The two were wed
on July 17, 1954.

Connie and David built a life on the South Shore of Massachusetts, where they raised four sons. In addition to being a homemaker, Connie worked as a school secretary at Southeastern Regional Technical High School in
South Easton, Massachusetts.

In 1972, Connie and David moved their family to Sunapee, New Hampshire, where they operated a general store for many years and were members of Lake Sunapee Baptist Church. Connie’s Christian belief was her guiding light in life and she was proud to serve the Lord in any capacity. She led Bible studies, was a piano accompanist and volunteered her time with several Christian ministries.

Connie first became a grandmother in 1983 and was dedicated to caring for her grandchildren often after school in Sunapee. Her grandchildren have many fond memories of sitting at her kitchen table watching her cook delicious meals including Thanksgiving turkey, homemade mac n’ cheese, egg salad sandwiches and butterscotch Rice Krispy treats. They also remember her playing the piano in her living room and at church, and were inspired by her talent. Her love of cooking and music is something she passed on to generations to come.

She also enjoyed sewing and knitting and made many pairs of mittens, slippers and blankets for her family. She also donated handmade items to those in the community who were in need. Connie had a special place in her heart for animals and provided a home to several cats throughout the years.

In 1998, Connie and David realized a dream by relocating from New Hampshire to Thomaston, Maine to enjoy their retirement. The couple often vacationed on Monhegan Island and desired a simpler life on the Midcoast of Maine. Connie was a parishioner at Solid Rock Church of Thomaston and formerly attended First Baptist Church in Rockland.

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, David Ellis; her brother, Merrill Willis; her three sons David Ellis, Stephen (Doris) Ellis and Christopher (Donna) Ellis; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her parents; and son Gregory Ellis, who passed away in March 2021.

Connie will be dearly missed by all who loved her, especially her beloved husband, family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to visit Friday, October 22, 2021, from 1 to 2 p.m., at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., followed by burial at Village Cemetery in Thomaston.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Connie’s name to Solid Rock Church, P.O Box 96, Rockland, ME 04841.
