AUGUSTA — Central Maine Power is warning its statewide customers this morning, April 10, to be prepared to be without power for likely more than a day.

“We will provide restoration estimates when we can,” CMP said in a statement. “We're working with county and local emergency management officials to clear trees and branches from roadways to make communities safe.”

CMP is focusing on ensuring the state’s hospitals, nursing homes and medical facilities have power.

In addition to its employees, CMP has more than 130 contractor crews and sister company crews as of Friday at 9 a.m. working on restoring coverage statewide.

CMP noted the company is reaching out to others in the industry to secure more assistance.

Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, CMP said its crews are practicing social distances and, as such, asks the public not approach CMP crews in the field.
