City of Rockland announces open seats for Nov. 7, 2023 election
ROCKLAND — Nomination papers may be taken out beginning July 25, 2023 and must be filed at the City Clerk’s Office no later than close of business on September 8, 2023, for candidates interested in the following open seats, as will appear on the November 7, 2023 Rockland municipal election:

Nov. 7, 2023 Municipal Election
City Council: 2 seats (MacLellan-Ruf, Austin) 3-year terms. Signatures: 100-150
RSU #13 Board of Directors: 1 seat (Bachofner) 3-year term. Signatures: 100-150
Rockland Port District: 2 seats (Ondra, Hathaway) 5-year terms. Signatures: 15-30
Election Warden: 1 seat (Vacant) 1-year term Signatures: 15-30
Ward Clerk: 1 seat (Vacant) 1-year term Signatures: 15-30
Candidates may take out as many nomination papers as they wish. The number of required signatures are as follows:
For City Council and RSU #13 Board, must have no less than 100 nor more than 150 signatures of registered Rockland voters to qualify for placement on the ballot. It is suggested that candidates collect at least 120-125 signature to make sure they have a sufficient number to qualify for placement on the ballot. For Election Warden, and Ward Clerk, no less than 15 nor more than 30 signatures are required.
Write-In Candidates: Anyone wishing to be considered as a write-in candidate for any of the above offices must file a Declaration of Write-in Candidacy no later than close of business on September 8, 2023.
