Fireworks, parades and and 4th of July BBQs—every town has a schedule of Independence Day events each year. But, if you’re looking for something a little different, here are some mid-week recommendations for cheap and fun happenings on the July 4 and 5.

Wednesday, July 4

Searsport

Penobscot Marine Museum is hosting a cool little thing. Free for members or with the price of admission, they are having a model boat race in their pond and participants can bring their remote control and sailing pond models for a miniature Great Schooner Race. The Right Track, a high-energy 11-piece R&B/funk/soul band with horns, strings, drums and vocals takes over the harbor from 5 to 6:15 p.m.. This is free to a funky, dancing public. 

Warren

Oyster River Winegrowers is throwing a Pizza Night with pies from the Uproot Pie Co.’s wood-fired pizzas, Oyster River’s fermented wine and Tall Trees Snack Shop’s rustic desserts from 4 to 8 p.m. FMI: Facebook

Odd Alewives Farm Brewery is throwing a “Bivalves and Brews” event at the Skidompha Library from 4 to 6 p.m. Your $25 entrance ticket buys you your first beer, three oysters, and a front-row seat to the band 32 North. Belfast

Lincolnville
