Cello-piano duo to play Bay Chamber Midday Music series
Cellist Zachary Sweet, a chamber musician and Eastman School of Music alum, joins forces with Kerry Mizrahi, a pianist and prominent music educator in Ithaca, New York.
Making their Bay Chamber debut Friday, Feb. 28, at 1 p.m., the duo's Midday Music program is an intimate exploration of resonance and reverie. The program includes William Grant Still’s Mother and Child, Bach’s Sonata No. 1 in G major, and Schumann’s Fantasiestücke Op. 73.
“The combination of cello and piano creates a rich and expressive sound that has captivated audiences for centuries,” said Sweet, in a Bay Chamber news release. “Bay Chamber’s audience will get a taste of music through the ages, from Bach to contemporary composer Andrea Casarrubios.”
Sweet and Mizrahi have been friends and collaborators for over 15 years. Their partnership, they say, is based joy, trust and a mutual love of both the classical canon and the broad, vibrant world of new music.
“It’s really special to share the stage with Kerry,” Sweet says of Mizrahi.
