"Catching Bass on the Fly" presentation with GRTU, April 8
ROCKPORT — George's River Trout Unlimited (GRTU) Board Member Doug Crossley will present on how to catch bass on the fly, Tuesday, April 8, in Rockport.
Summer brings warmer temperatures – and warmer water – which is stressful for trout, according to GRTU, in a news release.
"But there is no need to put your fly rod away!" said GRTU. "Maine offers excellent small and largemouth bass fishing, in midcoast and further afield. Bass fishing is a great way to extend your fly fishing season and stay outdoors, and on the water."
Crossley will talk about fly patterns, gear, locations, habitat, prey and more as he shares his knowledge and passion for summer bass fishing.
Crossley grew up in New Hampshire and learned to fish at a very young age. He moved to Maine in 2003 after spending 16 years in Alaska where he pursued salmon, trout and grayling. Crossly has been an active and dedicated Board Member with GRTU since 2012. He will soon be retired from 27 years of teaching.
"Bass beware!" said GRTU.
The GRTU meeting April 8 will be held upstairs in the fly shop at Maine Sport in Rockport. The meeting will start at 6 p.m. with “Trout Talk,” an informal gathering for those who wish to visit before the presentation. The formal meeting and featured presentation begin at 7pm. GRTU conducts a raffle directly following the speaker.
