Camden man arrested for domestic violence assault
CAMDEN — A Camden man remains in jail after he was arrested March 3 for allegedly assaulting a woman and trying to strangle her.
Nathaniel B. Hussey, 35, was charged by Camden police with aggravated assault, domestic violence assault, domestic violence criminal threatening, criminal mischief and obstructing the report of a crime.
Hussey made his initial court appearance March 6 in Knox County Unified Court. Judge Susan Sparaco set his bail at $10,000 cash.
He was previously convicted in 2013 and 2015 for domestic violence assaults and was recently released from prison, according to the court document.
According to the police report filed by Camden police officer Chris Hansen, the victim came to the police station on March 3 to report that Hussey had assaulted her on Feb. 25 and 26. She told police that they had gotten into an argument and he punched her in the leg with a closed fist. The victim went outside and Hussey locked her out of the house so she slept in her car.
Hussey came outside and told the victim that she could come back inside, but when she told him she would remain in the car, he allegedly kicked the car so hard that it caved in the front fender to the point where the front door would not open all the way, according to the affidavit.
In the morning, the victim went back inside the house to sleep in the bedroom. She told police that when she awoke, Hussey was standing over her, yelling, and struck her in the head with a closed fist and also head butted her in the face. He also allegedly attempted to strangle her and said that “neither one of us is going to leave the room alive,” according to the police report.
Hussey will appear in court again on May 18.
