SKOWHEGAN — After narrowly dropping its last two games, the Camden Hills varsity boys soccer team launched a new winning streak as the Windjammers slipped past Skowhegan on the road Saturday, Sept. 21.

The visiting Windjammers, who collected a 2-1 victory to boost its win-loss record to 4-2, allowed Skowhegan to score its lone goal one minute into the contest.

Quinn Brown netted the pair of goals for the Windjammers in the second half.

Casey Messer played well in the goalkeeper’s net and stopped several long balls flighted into the box, according to Camden Hills head coach Ryan Hurley.

"Skowhegan played us really tough today,” said Hurley. “We didn't quite get off the bus the way we had hoped and failed to pressure a Skowhegan attacker near the top of the 18 yard box in the first minute and he made us pay with a really well struck ball to the upper corner. We showed some character and resilience in the Saturday heat and played hard for the win. Skowhegan was really organized and a solid team so we were fortunate to come away with the win.”

The Windjammers will host Mount Blue (3-2) for its next game Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 3:30 p.m. before hitting the road Friday, Sept. 27 against Cony (2-2-1).
