ROCKPORT — The Camden Hills varsity boys soccer team earned itself a victory Tuesday, Sept. 28 in what head coach Ryan Hurley described as a dominant performance from his Windjammers at home against Skowhegan. 

Six different Windjammers recorded goals, courtesy of assists from six different players, in the Rockport school’s 7-1 victory at Don Palmer Field with a trio of goals coming in the first half and four in the second half. 

“We came out today and took care of business,” said Hurley. “It was nice to get so much balance in our attack with goals and assists coming from so many different players.”

Cam Brown started the goal scoring affair off at the 26 minute mark of the opening half, followed by goals from Evan Constantine at the 20 minute mark and Ben Schenk (assisted by Sam Brownawell) with 13 minutes remaining until halftime. 

Sam Steeves tallied Skowhegan’s lone goal after the River Hawks were awarded a penalty kick with four minutes to go in the first half.

The 'Jammers came out strong in the second half with midfielder Jackson Fitch taking a pass from Avery Hackett and drilling a 30 yard blast into the net to get things going.

Brown notched his second tally at the 31 minute mark of the second half off a Max Welt assist.

At the 30 minute mark, Charlie Pons tallied a goal for the Windjammers courtesy a Roan Aldridge-Peacock assist. The scoring was finalized when Aldridge-Peacock tallied a goal courtesy an Eric Leblond assist. 

Henry Pharris finished with two saves on two Skowhegan shots while Ryan Donoghue finished with 15 saves on 31 Windjammer shots. The 'Jammers led win corner kicks 11-1.

“Today was a good day to get lots of players involved and build some varsity experience, it was a solid performance and the effort was there,” said Hurley.
