SOUTH PARIS — A strong opening half with five goals set the Camden Hills varsity boys soccer team up for victory on the road in South Paris against Oxford Hills on Thursday, Oct. 3.

After taking a 5-0 advantage into the halftime pause, the visiting Windjammers netted a trio of second half goals to collect an 8-0 victory.

With the win, Camden Hills improved its record to 5-3 on the season.

For the Windjammers, Quinn Brown recorded a hat trick and two assists, while Ben Owre tallied a pair of goals. Also scoring for the visitors were Hugh Costigan (goal, assist), Gus Vietze (goal, assist) and Levi Guay (goal). Sam Brownawell and Jackson Fitch contributed one assist each.

Camden Hills recorded 22 shots and five corners, while Oxford Hills tallied five shots and two corners.

Casey Messer had one save in the goalie net for Camden Hills, while Sam Morton finished with 12 for the hosts.

Camden Hills head coach Ryan Hurley credited the Windjammer defense of Messer, Max Moore, Charlie Griebel, Fitch and Taylor Wesbrock for preventing the Vikings from scoring.

"Today we did well to get off the bus and put forth the type of performance we are capable of,” said Hurley. “Oxford Hills played hard and kept us off the board for the first 20 minutes of the game but we stuck with our game plan and executed well for the remainder of the game. We did a nice job possessing the ball and relentlessly attacking. It was a total team effort and the type of performance we can build on.”

The next game for the Windjammers will be on the road Saturday, Oct. 5 in Auburn against Edward Little (4-4) at 3 p.m.
